Synopsis: A gifted Christian teen who sings in her father’s (James Denton) worship group, wants to venture out on her own. Because “I have my own style!” And despite her overprotective father’s wishes, she runs away using an opportunity he turned down from an old friend, Frank Mostin (Kevin Pollak); who resurfaced from his days as a rock star.

Upon her arrival to California, in search of her musical dreams; Grace Trey (AJ Michalka), finds out how empty success can be without God. She is now having to choose between living God’s word or living the life of fame and everything that goes with it—the good, bad and ugly. The publicist changed her name to Gracie Trey. What else will she have to change to be a superstar? Although, she claims, “I was born for this.”

She meets a young man, Quentin (Michael Welch) who remembers her from the worship days at their church. He tells her he’ll be praying for her and when she is faced with hard facts, reminds Grace “There’s always going to be something missing.” And further in the story tells her, “I don’t think your problems are just with your dad. I think maybe you are fighting God. Just stop running.”

A modern-day spin on the Prodigal son. (Luke 15:11-32) After learning some life’s lessons from the School of Hard Knocks and Bumps—Grace finds her way back home to her parents, the church but most importantly God.

Originally released in 2013, Grace Unplugged is 1 hour and 58 minutes. The age group for this movie is 11+ and it is available on Amazon Prime, YouTube, iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu from $3.99.

Winner of the top Annual Faith and Family Awards which included the Epiphany Prize, Best Film Actress for AJ Michalka, and Best Film Actor for James Denton. The movie was also nominated for Family Film of the Year.
