It was the Apostle Paul who wrote, “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” (Philippians 4:11 KJV) To me this is a very profound statement. Because ever since the fall of Adam and Eve the human narrative has been…that we need knowledge, power and some unattainable, unsatisfiable “more” that is always one bite away from satisfaction. For some reason we seem to forget that God is more than enough. For it is written, “God can give you all you need. He will give you more than enough. You will have everything you need for yourselves. And you will have enough left over to give when there is a need.” (2 Corinthians 9:8 NLV) We must learn to be content with such things that we already have…
Dear God,
Teach me to be content with what you’ve given me. Please let me be content with who I am, what I have, and where You are taking me. May I have a heart of gratitude to focus on all the blessings I have and how well You have always cared for me. Help me to have a mindset of confidence and thankfulness everyday. Whether in fulness or in need that I continue to walk closer with You. Help me to seek You above all else. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
