Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, (I Peter 5:6 NKJV)
I PETER IN ITS ENTIRETY
Thought for the Week: As believers we must be willing to take a low place. Humility is the door to peace and divine order. To be humble, and subject to our reconciled God, will bring greater comfort to our souls than the gratification of pride and ambition. No matter what gifts or talents we possess we must never exalt ourselves above others. When the hand of God is upon us we cannot be lifted up in pride or house a rebellious spirit. But be in submission to Him. Under His hand we can rise from unbelief and distrust to faith and trust; with an assurance that all of our cares or concerns He will address because God’s Divine will and counsels are right and true, which calms our spirits as a gentle reminder of His promise never to leave or forsake us—no matter the problem. Nothing is impossible for God.
Prayer: O our Lord and God, restrain our thoughts, so that they do not wander amid the vanities of this world. O Lord our God, grant that we may be united to the affection of your love, unworthy though we are. Glory be to you, O Christ. Ascend into the chamber of your renowned light, O Lord; sow in us the good seed of humility; and under the wings of your grace hide us through your mercy. If you were to mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? Because there is mercy with you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
