I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
(Psalm 121:1-2 NKJV)

Do you know where your help comes from?

PSALM 121 IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Thought for the Week: Imagine you are walking along and fall into a deep pit. Your first thought is to look up and start yelling. You would begin to realize there is nothing in that pit to help you get out—no ladder, rope, or stairs. Your help must come from above. Looking for help, in this case, outside of ourselves makes a lot of sense. But sometimes, when we fall into life’s pits, we thrash around foolishly thinking that somehow, we will get ourselves out of this situation. We forget the one thing that makes the most sense—to look up. That is where our help will come from. When we lift our eyes to God, He will come to our rescue. He who made the heavens and earth is always ready and willing to help us. If only we would look to Him.

Prayer: Father, so many times, when I find myself in the Pit of Despair I try to get out by my own strength. I should know by now that it never works. Help me to always look to You when I am in trouble. I know that You stand ready to help me, but I have to put my eyes on You. Thank You for being my present help in times of trouble. In Jesus’ name, amen.
