“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12 NKJV)

Thought for the Week: This is My commandment. This special law of Christianity is now known as “the new commandment.” (John 13:34) As I have loved you – That is, with the same tender affection, willing to endure trials, to practice self-denials, and, if necessary, to lay down your lives for each other (1 John 3:16). This is the true love of God that breaks all chains and obstacles in our lives as well as others. Giving us both courage and strength, through Christ Jesus, who showed us the greatest love of all at the cross.

Prayer: Dear Lord, love is patient and kind. Please give me the heart to be patient and kind in love. Give me the strength to bear all things, believe all things pertaining to your word, hope all things in You, and endure all things as a good soldier. Above all, help me to walk in obedience to your commandments. I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
