Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days. There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand. (Proverbs 19:20-21 NKJV)
Do you listen to sound counsel and take heed to the instruction?
PROVERBS 19 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought of the Week: The word teaches us that if we lack wisdom to ask God. (James 1:5) And as king Solomon prayed for wisdom so shall we. (I Kings 3:9) King Solomon was wise because he listened. We can learn much more by listening than we can by talking. The bible is full of stories where the wisest did exactly that. Like the king, Solomon solved the problem of the two mothers and the one child. We too can examine situations with our ears, wisely deciding the best course of action.
Prayer: Wise and all-knowing God, please grant me the patience to listen instead of speaking when I do not know the entire situation. I ask that You give me the humility to continue listening when I do not know the answer and defer to wiser counsel than myself. Abba Father, there is none wiser that You, the Creator of the heavens and earth, existing before time. I pray that you assist me in my desire to learn all that I can from You. In Your holy name, I pray, Amen.
