I had a waking vision years ago while attending a worship conference at Christ for the Nations in Dallas. Our…
Jesus instructed the disciples: “After this manner therefore pray ye:”
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
*This prayer comes from Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)
I have often heard this called The Disciples’ Prayer and prefer that name as it is the model of how we who are following Jesus are to pray. 😉
Not a big deal what we call it as long as we use it to 1 praise Him, 2 acknowledge His supremacy, 3 invite His hand to lead our lives, 4 accept His provisions, 5 learn to forgive and be forgiven, 6 determine to follow Him away from temptation, and again, give Him the glory that He deserves.
Amen! 🙂
