As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:12 NKJV)
PSALM 103 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought for the Week: The Contemporary Christian recording group “Casting Crowns” some years ago, released a song that asked, “Jesus, Can you show me just how far the east is from the west?” Here the songwriter expressed great concern that the man he was might be rising up in him again. He expressed a need for confirmation from God that his sins have indeed been removed from him. When we think about the east coast versus the west coast of the United States. Or when we think about the world in general—the eastern hemisphere versus the eastern hemisphere. This scripture implicates great distance. That implication shows us just how far God has removed our sins from us. He takes our sins far from us. In other words, He disconnects us from our sin to the point that we are no longer defined by the transgressions in our lives.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for removing my transgressions. I thank You for removing them so far away from me that I’m not tempted by them and that You don’t keep them nearby so that You can remind me of them at every turn. I thank You that You placed Your Spirit between me and my transgressions. That in that space, You saved me, justified me, sanctified me and I thank You for that distance between the east and the west. I thank You for removing my sins from my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
