To Depend on God

One Thursday morning I received the blanket “Thought of the Day” from my dear friend Prophet Moreno. Usually, I just read them, perhaps make a comment and go about my day. But it was something about this particular “thought” that demanded my undivided attention…
It read, “We were created to depend on God. When all the walls start to crumble you go to everybody but God. Stop making God your last choice and make Him your first.” And it ended with the usual closing. “BB” (Be Blessed)

Immediately I heard these words “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 NKJV) Then my thoughts automatically shifted to Solomon when in derision he declared, “Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.” (I Kings 3:7 NKJV) “Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

Although God had just set Solomon on the throne. Solomon realized he had to depend on God to help him fulfill his royal obligations. Because Solomon sought first the kingdom of God and His righteousness we read…The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. Then God said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you. And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.” (I Kings 3:10-14 NKJV)
It is imperative for us to understand how we are to depend upon the authority and power of our Creator whose Son tells us “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3 NKJV)
Children are innocent and totally dependent upon their parents for all their elemental needs—food, clothing, warmth, protection, and love. They are teachable and have limitations—although they are not cognizant of this fact. Yet to live they must depend on their earthly parents as we, like Solomon, should recognize we must totally depend on God.
May the Blessings of the LORD be with you today and always. Thank you so much for your continued readership and support.….Blessings and Peace!

A lot of what we cannot see or understand seems impossible but that is our journey through faith… to get to know and trust our creator.

Amen. Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come
and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”— (Eccl. 12:1)

One of my favorite stories was of a man who talked with a homeless man. He asked if he believed in God. The homeless man paused, then said, “Of course. Who do you think made me?”
