When my daughter told me about the school shootings at Robb Elementary School, my heart began to sink and my mind went back to Sandy Hook Elementary School and Columbine High School, and most recent Oxford High School. I can’t even begin to process the amount of pain, suffering, and grief each parent who lost a child is going through right now. Or the loss of those teachers who were simply trying to educate those children. I immediately began to pray for God’s love, mercy, and grace to cover those families. As I am writing this post there is one scripture that came to me…“A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted, Because they are no more.” (Matthew 2:18 NKJV)

Heavenly Father: As we look at the conditions of our world we need You now more than ever. There is no safe place but under the shadow of Your wings, the secret place of the Most High. Please keep our children safe from all hurt, harm, and danger seen and unseen in the precious name of Jesus. We pray that You would send angels forth to every classroom not just here in America but all around the world where children attend to guard every secret pathway, doorway, window, and parking lot in the name of Jesus. Lord, we ask for your mercy, love, and grace to cover each family with loss in Uvalde, Texas. Please hold them in the hollow of Your hands to comfort and strengthen them in the days ahead. And we pray that greed no longer dictates our lives, but that the glory of God and the Holy Spirit be at the helm. Please give those in power a conscience and clarity to do what is right according to the divine will You have ordained for Your people with our children foremost in their minds. And we will be so careful to give You all of the honor, glory, and praise. In Jesus’ Holy name we pray. Amen.
