The fragrant smells of pumpkin spice and everything nice. Cooler weather as the leaves began to change into an assortment of orange and brown colors. Autumn decor and changing of the wreaths on our front doors to welcome Fall in all its colorful splendor. With celebratory anticipation parents are frantically shopping for school supplies, officially marking the end of August. Did you know the month of September is comprised of 200 holidays? Everything from American Chess Day to National Love People Day and every holiday in between!
How quickly 2022 is passing us by! Thanksgiving is quickly approaching meaning Christmas is not far behind! Seems like only yesterday we saw January 1. Where did the time go? With Labor Day on the first Monday of this month, honoring the workforce of America and Bermuda. Most of us can’t wait to have a day off to simply relax and enjoy life. No emails, no faxes, just fun, and relaxation. But if you are of the adventurous kind and like to party just look in the book bag to see what’s going on.
One of the reasons we are so blessed to be able to relax and enjoy rest from our labors is because of VJ Day. This day marks the end of WWII and the cessation of fighting against Japan. The ceremony and formal signing of surrender were on September 2.
Another celebration is the Jewish Holiday Rosh Hashanah on September 6 beginning at sundown.
As we go from celebratory to somber…September 11, Patriot Day gives all of us time to reflect on the devastating terror attacks that took nearly 3,000 lives. We commemorate those who we lost and give thanks to the brave first responders who put their lives on the line. Take a moment, on this day, to consider what we stand for as a nation and how we can work together to make the world a better place for all.
A little September Trivia: Did you know? September was called “harvest month” in Charlemagne‘s calendar. September corresponds partly to the Fructidor and partly to the Vendémiaire of the first French republic. On Usenet, it is said that September 1993 (Eternal September) never ended.
