This is a repost from something I wrote almost two years ago that I recently read that inspired me and I hope it will do the same for some of you…

Growing up we would always hear or see, “Reading is Fundamental.” Writing followed reading as the first of the Big Three in primary education: Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. Therefore, I would submit to you writing is fundamental. It lies at the core of our intellectual abilities. We are all born with the ability to write in a creative manner. However, only exceptional writers possess the unique ability to reach into the inner sanctum of their soul, tapping into a fountain of creativity; allowing them to write literary masterpieces for us to read.

This fountain of creativity is replenished by life experiences that may be abstract to a poet, impressionism to an artist, or didactic to a writer. There are numerous streams of ideas flowing into this fountain of creativity. You must dive into the deep end of limitless ideas. Find one, and bring it to the surface by shaping and molding that idea into an essay, research paper, short story, novel, or even a movie script.

Practice using your objective lens to reach into your soul and drink freely from this creative fountain. In that wellspring, you will find the majestic words of a great wordsmith; who hammers those keys on the anvil of thoughts forged by a fiery imagination. And when that product is finished, a special sheen is produced that evokes emotions from an audience of curious onlookers who either love, hate or ride the fence of opinions concerning this creation.

Create because of passion and that passion will give you the momentum you need to keep pecking away using that fiery imagination and before you know it you’ll be a conquering writer. Yes, you’ve conquered the depths of limitless ideas and emerged with the exciting breath of a masterpiece for all to see and read.
