Sometimes we have so many thoughts running through our heads we want to tell our mind to shut its mouth. There are a plethora of things in which we get involved in the course of a day that sometimes we don’t even know our top from the bottom. For example. Have you ever lost your keys and looked for them everywhere only to find them in your pocket? Or called yourself putting something away for safekeeping only now it’s being kept from you? Have you ever left the room to go get something only when you got there you couldn’t remember what the something was? Has your mind ever been cluttered with so many things you couldn’t think straight? These are not signs of dementia these are signs of a lack of discernment that comes from a cluttered mind.

So here is a prayer that we hope will help clear out the clutter and the cobwebs.

Dear Lord, I desire to be clear-minded in a time when deceit and deception flood into our minds from so many quarters, and so I pray that I would learn to take every thought captive, so that I may not be tossed about by the many winds of doctrines that can cause such confusion in our minds, and distort the truth of Your Word.

Father, I do not want to be swept into the world’s way of thinking, and pray that You would give me increasing and ongoing clarity of thought in my home, my work, and in the general activities of life as well as my special times of devotion, prayer and fellowship meetings with other believers.

Open the eyes of my understanding I pray and give me real wisdom. Help me not to fall into a spiritual slumber but rather to remain alert and watchful, knowing that the days are evil. Thank You, Lord, that I am Your blood-bought child and that nothing can separate me from Your love. Give me the grace I pray, to stand fast until the day of Christ Jesus, in Whose name I pray, Amen.
