Auld Lang Syne is gone in a flash! The fireworks and celebrations are now in the past—January is a blur and has gone so fast! As we embark upon this new year with a renewed hope that will lift us all up to a higher dimension of positive progress. We move forward into a new month of candies, cards, flowers, love, and Elmo’s Birthday.

The four holidays that are foremost in our minds for February are Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, Lincoln’s Birthday, and Presidents’ Day. Would you believe as short as the month of February is there are 264 special days of awareness and observances to celebrate! You couldn’t make all of those celebrations if you wanted to. So you’ll just have to eat through your box of candy and choose which chocolate nuggets you want. This entire month is American Heart Month, Plant the Seeds of Greatness Month, National Women Inventors Month, African American Heritage Month, National Library Lovers Month, Black History Month, National Cancer Prevention Month, International Friendship Month, National Bake For Family Fun Month, National Weddings Month and National Children’s Dental Health Month just to name a few. For the complete list please don’t hesitate to stop by Lucy’s booth on your way out.

Now for those of us who are fans of dark chocolate, today is National Dark Chocolate Day! For health-conscious individuals today kicks off Bike To Work Month, February 5 is World Nutella Day, February 6 is National Frozen Yogurt Day, February 16 is National Almond Day, and February 27 is National Protein Day. For you die-hard musicians…February 2 is National Ukulele Day, February 3 is The Day the Music Died, February 6 is Bob Marley’s Birthday, February 11 is National Guitar Day and February 20 is Rihanna’s Birthday. We, writers and readers, have to pay homage to Daniel Defoe on Robinson Crusoe Day which we celebrate today. And as Valentine’s Day quickly approaches, get those cards, candies, flowers, and packages in the mail or those surprise plans completed. Don’t put off tomorrow what you can do today!

No matter what celebration with which we decide to get involved. Let us not forget our National Freedom Day which we celebrate today. Four Chaplains Day on February 3 commemorates four Army chaplains who acted in the spirit of heroic sacrifice and humanitarianism onboard the sinking U.S.A.T. Dorchester. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13 NKJV) So as we celebrate National Freedom Day let us humbly and somberly remember that this freedom comes at a very high price.

A little February trivia. Did you know? February is the only month where it’s possible to go the entire time without having a full moon.

If you know and believe God walked you safely thru January and opened your eyes to see February, let’s thank Him! Thank You, God, for Your blessing each day. Please guide us through February with Your love and care. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Happy New Month and best wishes to you all. Blessings and Peace!
