When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. (Mark 8:34 NKJV)
MARK 8 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Day: Jesus did not suffer the cross just to provide an upgrade to the life that we make for ourselves. Rather, he calls us to a life of carrying our own cross. Not to bear our own punishment (for Jesus has already done that), but to put to death our lordship over our own lives as we follow Jesus wherever he leads.
Prayer: Father God, I confess that all too often I choose my own way over Yours. Help me to put away all of the desires, priorities, and pride of my old sinful nature, to crucify my old self. Fill me instead with a new life lived in step with You, empowered by Your victory so that I may walk in obedience as I follow wherever You lead me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
