Some of us spend too much time seeking the approval of others or trying to fit in as the world dictates we should fit into some version of what they define normality to be. Many of us have been hurt on more than one occasion because we did not get someone’s stamp of approval or fit into a particular group of popularity—so we thought. And we found ourselves drowning in a pool of self-inflicted rejection. On the other hand, some of us were in an environment of negative reinforcement with someone always telling us we were never going to be or amount to anything.
But we as children of God can find and do have value because of what Jesus Christ did for us. (John 3:16 NKJV) We are invaluable in the eyes of God and nothing on this planet can change that. We must learn that we gain our value and validation in God and Him alone. For it is written: Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? (Matthew 6:30 NKJV)
Dear God, I thank You that I do not have to depend on the world in order to find my value. Thank You, LORD, for seeing me as worth the sacrifice. Thank You for loving me and defining me according to your love for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
