Welcome July!

What can I say? The first six months of this year are a blur. Talking to different people — many of us found it profound how time seems to be going in fast forward. And as we fly at warp speed here we are already in the month of July — five months from Christmas! So as we collide with the 119 celebratory days this month please pull out your captain’s log and try to equate which ones you plan to attend. You’ll have to sit in the captain’s chair to make your selections. We are only going to list a few. On the first day of this month let’s celebrate National Make A Difference to Children Month. Because children truly are our future and the only thing they should be concerned with is being children — growing and going into a bright future with many different and hopeful prospects.

This entire month is Smart Irrigation Month, Bereaved Parents Awareness Month, Family Golf Month, Good Care Month, International Women with Alopecia Month, National Cell Phone Courtesy Month, National Child-Centered Divorce Month, National Culinary Arts Month, National Family Reunion Month, National Grilling Month, National Make A Difference to Children Month, National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, Social Wellness Month, UV Safety Awareness Month, and Sarcoma Awareness Month.

July 1st is also a day when food connoisseurs celebrate International Chicken Wing Day — I truly love those hot wings! If you are a real video gamer then you know July 8th is National Video Game Day. And after all these years Mario is still the iconic king of the video kingdom. Anyone see the movie? It was really good. Now if you want to put those controllers down and leave that big-screen tv for some quality family time there is National Cousins DayNational Parents’ DayNational Aunt and Uncle Day, and National Father-in-Law Day, When all of these relatives get together they can celebrate the Fourth of July Independence Day which is the centerpiece of this month. In the face of this country’s socio-economical climate, we really need to take a serious assessment of how thankful we should be and remember what this celebration means to all of us.– The celebration of America’s nationhood. It commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776.

A little July trivia: The name July was named after Roman general Julius Caesar. And with this early July, historically is called the dog days of summer because it’s the beginning of the hot summer days.

Praying you all the best on this earth as we make it to this new month. Giving thanks to the Almighty God who spared our lives up till this moment as we celebrate the new month’s success. Remain blessed now and for the rest of your life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
