Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ had legions of angels at his command yet at the Father’s request he took off his glory and came down to earth in the form of a man to bear all of our sins and reconcile us with God. (Philippians 2:5-11 NKJV) He had all power in heaven and on earth yet he never did anything that was self-serving or ambitious. He was full of love, humility, and compassion.

Of this, the Apostle Paul writes, “ Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4 NKJV)

Lord,
Thank You for loving me, serving me, and giving abundantly to me even though I could never earn Your generosity. I confess that I am at times selfish and stingy with my resources. Please remove the heart of selfishness oh God that keeps me from caring for the downtrodden, abused, forgotten, and broken. I pray that You will empower me to be more like You, to give and love out of compassion, for the sake of Your kingdom, so that Your power may be revealed in my life to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
