I will do a happy dance when the weather here in Florida sends cool breezes blowing through our windows instead of humid weather clinging to this Fall month. The weather people are saying we are going to have a rather cold winter—we’ll just have to wait and see.

Looking at October’s calendar, there are some 226 October awareness and celebrations. We’ll start the list where national health awareness is part of this October extravaganza. AIDS Awareness Month, American Pharmacists Month, Blindness Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Down Syndrome Awareness Month, Dyslexia Awareness Month, Emotional Wellness Month, Head Start Awareness Month, and Rett Syndrome Awareness Month just to name a few.
Other month celebrations include: Celebrate The Bilingual Child Month, Country Music Month, National Work and Family Month, and National Forgiveness & Happiness Day.
There are numerous holidays every day this month. Might we suggest raking through the leaves and finding the ones you like most to jump into?. (Click on the pile of leaves to see the entire list.) But we’ll give you a sampler of some holidays to come…As a lover of chocolate ganache, I couldn’t resist National Dessert Month (Oct. 1), National Cinnamon Roll Day (Oct. 4), or National Cookbook Month (Oct. 1) For those into computers let’s not forget National Techies Day (Oct. 3) and National Internet Day (Oct. 29). And those of you who are still into pumpkin spice candles, carving pumpkins, making pumpkin pie, or drinking pumpkin spice lattes there’s always National Pumpkin Day.
On a more serious note, we would like to take this time to honor those who are on the front lines trying to keep us alive every day. Health Care Aide Day, and National First Responders Day.

In filling up this holiday bag of events we must put in the Federal holidays which are Columbus Day, National Day of the Deployed, Navy Birthday, Navy Day, and United Nations Day. Let us never forget the first responders of our national and international defense and security. Lives sacrificed so that we can enjoy our freedom and for which we should never forget to say thank you and show our gratitude.
In rounding out this short list, October 31st, Halloween is the celebration centerpiece of this month. Even though some of us are reverting back to wearing masks practically every day because of this new variant. Changing into the celebratory costumes and imitating others will be an exciting adventure.
A little October Trivia. Hawaii has a special October event called “the Aloha Festival,” sometimes described as the “Mardi Gras of the Pacific.”
Mighty God, as we navigate through October, let Your angels encamp around us, our families, and our endeavors. Shield us all from any form of harm, ill will, or negativity. Keep our minds focused, our hearts pure, and our spirits aligned with Your word. For all this, we are grateful, in Jesus’ name to Him be glory both now and forevermore. Amen.
Happy New Month and best wishes to you all. Blessings and Peace!
