Sometimes we lose sight of the fact that following Jesus today is still dangerous. There are Christians around the world right now who are being actively persecuted. Some people in power and authority do not relish the idea of an omnipotent God being worshipped and more powerful than they are and other communities feel Christianity is disrespectful and a direct threat to their ancient cultures. Simply because of Christians’ beliefs and their tenacity in spreading the word they are being harmed. Let us never forget that we are called to praise God and to pray for the needs of the world and those who go out in it. So as we are blessed to sit on padded pews in beautiful air-conditioned edifices with freedom of religion let us not forget those who are truly on the battlefield for Jesus and for their lives…

Heavenly Father, please keep our Christian brothers and sisters across the world safe from all hurt, harm, and danger. As they are faced with persecution we ask that You please grant them peace and undergird them with strengthening faith as they face these obstacles in their walk. Please let them be reminded in those fearful moments that You are always with them. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
