When approaching other bloggers it is vital to remember that you’re asking them for an equal value deal. If you approach these blog owners as if you are asking them for a favor you’ve already stacked the deck against yourself before even presenting the proposal.

How do you negotiate the deal?

By giving them a brief synopsis of how it will work. Which should include a few potential topics you’d like to write about. Let them know all they’ll need to do is copy and paste the article into their website. Further, emphasize why this is beneficial to them and your reasoning behind giving them free content. Make your contribution sound as risk-free as possible while reiterating how this is a win-win proposition for both parties.

Then request the order. Make sure you give them a link to your site so they have the opportunity to become familiar with the quality of your content. This way they can also ensure that you both have similar values. If they like your site, which is a reflection of who you are they will probably respond to your request. Don’t allow discouragement to set in because you don’t get every site you request to write for. As a matter of fact, you’ll probably get more “no’s” and no responses. But eventually, you will also gain a lot of people who say “yes.” And that’s your main objective.
