While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!” (Job 1:16 NKJV)
JOB 1 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Week: While Job was digesting some terrible news and devising a plan to recover, his servant came to tell him of another tragic circumstance. How many times have we been trying to solve one problem only to find another one has cropped up right behind it? We begin feeling like the little Dutch boy who stuck his finger in one hole of the dike to stop the water only for another hole to come up after that! Some seasons of our lives bring a pile of troubles—that start as ant hills and become mountains that seem impossible to climb. We must remember that God is a very present help during our struggles and will be there to encourage us by continuously strengthening our faith when we call upon His name.
Prayer: Father, please help us to remain optimistic when problems seem to overwhelm us. Strengthen our faith in Your plan for us so that we may continually feel Your presence. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
