Selected Messages by the Legendary Evangelist

“Signs and wonders” charcterized the vibrant Smith Wigglesworth’s long, faith-filled life; salvations, miraculous healings, and even resurrections from the dead. From the early 20th century right up until his death in 1947 at the age of 87, Wigglesworth, an uneducated Yorkshire plumber, preached and prayed his way around the globe. He raised the “faith temperature” wherever he preached and his printed sermons have the same effect today.
This 405-page power-packed book is comprised of the 48 sermons Smith Wigglesworth preached around the world. The topics in this collection cover the Wigglesworth essentials, salvation, holy living, worship, evangelism, baptism in the Holy Spirit, healing, and, of course, faith. Also included are International Narratives and a timeline of his life.
On the subject of Deceiving Voices he says “If ever you get out of the will of God and satan comes in, you will find there is no rest. I have learned that if anything disturbs my peace it is always satanic.” (pg. 36)
On page 50 Wigglesworth defines a miracle—“A miracle is where the power of the Spirit of God comes to absolute helplessness, where no human aid can reach, but where God alone comes and performs the supernatural, when God comes and the body is made whole in a minute—not in an hour or a week, but in a minute—that is a miracle.”
Wigglesworth says concerning the word of God and real faith—The difference between the sons of Sceva and Paul is this: They said “It is only using the word.” Then he asks the question…”How many times are people defeated because they think it is just the word?” He goes on to expound—“He that believeth shall speak in tongues, he that believeth shall cast out devils, he that believeth shall lay hands on the sick. On the surface, it seems easy, but you must understand that there are volumes to be applied to the word “believe. To believe is to believe in the need of the majesty of the glory of the power, which is all power, which brings all other powers under subjection.” (pg. 131)
There are so many nuggets of wisdom in this book that may bring revelation and revival to you as a believer it is worth the effort to seek out and read. It always amazes me how these generals in God’s army were so entrenched in the gospel that nothing diverted them from their assignments. Signs and wonders did follow them because they truly believed.
