This poem is dedicated to those whose first Christmas is without a loved one…
As the holiday of Christmas comes softly near
We miss you so very much my dear
Your chair is still here by me
Looking over my shoulder you I do not see
That chair is a constant reminder of you
So lost and alone—am without a clue
Sometimes up, sometimes down
Sometimes smiles, sometimes frowns
Through the tears, we see pictures of your smile
The gleam in your eyes keeps us all for a while
With the memories and laughter we often shared
And all the ways you showed you cared
In our hearts, we know you are in a much better place
But that thought does not seem to even erase…
The fact that you are no longer here
We miss you so very much this time of year.

Beautiful, c.f.! The holidays can be the most difficult time. But God and our memories are with us.
