The first six months of the year are gone already! Who knew we’d be seeing July so quickly. I was talking to someone the other day who said “Christmas will be here before you know it!” Another lady told me she was told the older you get the faster time flies. I would concur. However, some of the things that I loved in my childhood days are coming back to the surface—One being those days I had a chance to visit different zoos in different cities. So today let’s celebrate American Zoo Day. While riding with a friend of mine the other day I told her I was going to have to make a trip to the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa. I’d been there for a picnic but never went into the exhibits. I remember playing with a baby kangaroo and koala bear at Busch Gardens. Those are experiences I’ll never forget.
Anywho, this month is comprised of 119 celebratory days and includes Bank Account Bonus Month, International Zine Month, Family Golf Month, Good Care Month, Fragile X Awareness Month, National Cell Phone Courtesy Month, National Family Reunion Month, Hitchhiking Month, National Make-A Difference to Children Month, National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, Social Wellness Month, Hemochromatosis Screening And Awareness Month, World Watercolor Month, and Sarcoma Awareness Month, just to name a few. For the complete list, you’ll have to stop by our zoo to see.

July 1st is also a day when grill masters begin celebrating National Grilling Month. And for those of us who are restauranteurs, we are so looking forward to celebrating National Culinary Arts Month! Bring on the menu, please! As part of the video gamer crew if I’m not too busy on July 8th after work I too will be celebrating National Video Game Day with my favorite game of all time Super Mario. For those who feel the family is important and need less time with video games and cell phones…there is National Cousins Day, National Parents’ Day, National Aunt and Uncle Day, and National Father-in-Law Day, Then all of these relatives can get together to celebrate the centerpiece of this month—The Fourth of July, Independence Day. Can you believe the movie is 28 years old already? I must agree with Mr. Chaucer who is noted for saying “Time and tide wait for no man.”
A little July trivia: The Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It was engrossed on parchment and on August 2, 1776, delegates began signing it.
May you strengthen your connection with God, engaging in prayer, worship, and reflection to deepen your faith.
Happy New Month!
