O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies. (Daniel 9:18 NKJV)
DANIEL 9 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Week: When we come to God in prayer, we do not come in our own righteousness, but with a humble heart seeking His great mercies. In the book of Daniel, we find the prophet interceding for the desolation of Jerusalem and pleading for God’s attention to their plight. We too, like Daniel, can approach God with confidence knowing that He hears us. Even though at times amid our struggles and desolations it may feel like God is not listening or paying attention to our cries. We may wonder if our prayers are even reaching Him. But we must be mindful that God’s eyes are always going to and fro in the earth so He is fully aware of our situations. He sees beyond the surface and understands the depths of our hearts.
Prayer: Most Heavenly Father, please incline Your ear to our prayers and hear us not only in our times of need but whenever we kneel in pure humility unto You. Open your eyes and behold our desolations for we come before You not based on our own righteousness, but upon Your great mercies. Lord, we trust that You see our struggles and understand the depths of your hearts. We thank You for the privilege of prayer and the assurance that You do hear us. Help us to approach You with humility and true faith, knowing that You are ready to intervene on our behalf. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
