What Is A True Christian?

by Roderick C. Meredith

Then he asserts: Strangely, yet at least honestly, some of this world’s noted religious leaders and scholars have acknowledged that our professing “Christianity” has not even seriously tried to follow the literal teaching and example of Jesus Christ—its supposed author! (pg 3) And then quotes what noted historian Will Durant said, “Christianity did not destroy paganism: it adopted it.”

He goes onto say that the most vital key is to not just accept Jesus’ person but also believe in His message—in what he taught and stood for—for Jesus Himself asks, “But why do you call Me “Lord, Lord,” and do not do the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46) Then we must repent and be baptized. (pgs 14-15)

  1. The danger with this booklet is that some may read it and proceed to make judgements of who they think is a true Christian without allowing for the grace of God who alone looks into the heart.
Certainly, some show by their lives that any profession of Christianity is false, but allow Father to do the judging.
I have known many in different denominations, including Roman Catholics, Presbyterians, non-denominationals, Pentecostals and holiness folks who are true believers in Jesus.

    1. That is a possibility, but just like any other banquet table we take what we can use for our spiritual betterment and leave the rest. From a better development perspective some may learn from it instead of being judgemental. Just as you, I have become acquainted with many true believers from various denominations too. Yes, it is Father who passes the final judgement in all matters which we should all take and recognize very seriously, But it is up to us to be the best that we as Believers can be as we use our moral measuring stick against scriptures. Thank you for your comments. Have a blessed and new week!

      1. Yes, that is why we blog, to educate, encourage and correct believers who may need our help… and why I read other’s blogs like yours because often I need more education, encouragement and correction. I have not read this particular text, but many similar.
In the meantime, let’s keep stumbling along toward the Heavenly Kingdom, fellow pilgrim.🤠

      2. My prayer for all my readers and fellow yoke servants alike is that we are blessed to walk the path that God has assigned unto our feet. And I follow other fellow bloggers, like you, to get their perspectives on God’s word because it is written For we know in part and we prophesy in part. (I Corinthians 13:9 NKJV) It is my hope with all our different parts we can have a clearer picture of God’s word— So in these labors we help in the advancement of our Father’s Kingdom for as you said in your comment—we are merely pilgrims passing through. Always good to hear from you and again, thank you for your comments. Have a blessed and prosperous week! Blessings and Peace!

      3. Pray for me this Friday. Wrist surgery to repair three torn ligaments and rebuild some bone. And before you ask😉, I have no idea how I injured it nor when. When I told that to the doctor, his eyes got big and he asked me, “How do you tear three ligaments and NOT feel it!?”
Must have happened this spring because that was when it started aching slightly, and now aches pretty badly. Lots of prayers going up for me, but I will appreciate yours as well, fellow pilgrim.🤠
