The Lord is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.’ (Numbers 14:18 NKJV)
NUMBERS 14 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For the Week: As followers of Jesus we are oftentimes remined of God’s longsuffering and great mercy in the above text which encapsulates the depts of God’s character and how He chooses to deal with humanity. God’s longsuffering signifies his patience and endurance, even in the face of our disobedience and rebellion. He bears along with us—allowing us time to repent and turn back to Him. Always willing to forgive our iniquities and transgressions. The extent of His mercy conveys His endless compassion and kindness towards us, not giving us the punishment we deserve. Let us continually seek His forgiveness and strive to live in a manner that pleases Him.
Prayer: Most Holy Father; we thank You for Your longsuffering and great mercy. We acknowledge that we have sinned against You and fallen short of Your glory. Please forgive us from all unrighteousness. Please help us to live in a way that brings honor to Your name. May we diligently seek Your forgiveness and extend the same compassion and mercy to others. In Jesus’ name.
