The Gospels of Mark and Luke denote the times Jesus got a way to pray. And from this place of private prayer he taught his disciples on this wise: And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. (Matthew 6:5-6 NKJV)
Father, I pray for a deeper commitment to prayer in the church. Colossians 4:2 calls us to be devoted to prayer, watching and giving thanks. Strengthen our hearts to seek You daily and to lift one another up in prayer. Let prayer become a powerful foundation the Body of Christ, binding us together and empowering us to stand in faith. May we be a church that prays boldly and consistently, relying on Your strength and seeking Your guidance in all things. Thank You Lord for the gift of prayer. I ask that You fill Your people with a passion to seek You earnestly. In Jesus’ name, amen.
