A father moves his pregnant wife and six kids from Australia to the U.S., facing challenges along the way. Based on the true story of David and Helen Smallbone, parents of Rebecca St. James and Joel and Luke Smallbone from For King and Country, the film is set in the 1990s. Joel Smallbone, Daisy Betts, Lucas Black, and Candace Cameron Bure star in the movie. Produced by Kingdom Story Company (known for Jesus Revolution and I Can Only Imagine), it’s rated PG for thematic content. Unsung Hero is 1hr 53min and rated PG. 7. The Forge
Isaiah Wright, a 19-year-old who loves video games and basketball, confronts his past while maturing into adulthood. Directed by Alex and Stephen Kendrick, the film highlights mentorship and discipleship, featuring characters from their earlier movie Overcomer. The Kendricks are known for their hits, including War Room, which reached No. 1 at the box office in its second weekend. They hope the movie inspires viewers to follow Christ more faithfully. “A lot of people claim to believe in God, but their faith is lukewarm,” said Stephen Kendrick. 8. Bonhoeffer
A Christian theologian in Nazi Germany speaks out against the regime and joins a plot to kill Adolf Hitler. This is the real story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and theologian. Todd Komarnicki, who co-wrote Sully (2016) and produced Elf (2003), wrote and directed the film. Angel Studios is handling the release. “We’ve never needed Bonhoeffer’s story more than we do now,” said Jordan Harmon, president of Angel Studios. Bonhoeffer is 1hr 3min is NR. 9. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
Two siblings from a tough upbringing land roles in a local Christmas play and show the community what the holiday truly means. The story is based on Barbara Robinson’s beloved 1971 book The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Dallas Jenkins, known for creating and directing The Chosen, is directing the project. Kingdom Story Company, responsible for movies like Jesus Revolution and I Still Believe, is producing it. Jenkins shared, “This is the movie I’ve wanted to make my whole life.” The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is 1hr 39min is rated PG. Can be seen on Fandango At Home, Google Play Movies & TV, and YouTube from $19.00.
10. Homestead
In this post-apocalyptic story, a wealthy prepper family hires a military veteran family for security, but tensions rise between them. The movie is based on the Black Autumn book series by Jeff Kirkham and Jason Ross. Neal McDonough, Bailey Chase, Dawn Olivieri, and Jesse Hutch star in the film, directed by Ben Smallbone (Priceless, Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon). Angel Studios is distributing it. Jeffrey Harmon, co-founder of Angel Studios, shared that Homestead explores the collapse of society while showing that family, community, and love are key to survival. Homestead is 1hr 53min and is rated PG13. Can be seen on Apple TV and Amazon Prime from $9.99, Just Watch for free, and Netflix in some viewing areas.
