A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones. (Proverbs 17:22 NKJV)
PROVERBS 17 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Week: Ever notice how laughter can make you feel better? It’s like a healing balm that can soothe your soul while lifting your spirits. God created us to experience joy and happiness. It is no wonder that laughter has such a powerful effect on our well-being.
It may not solve all of life’s problems, but laughter can certainly make them easier to bear. When we laugh, our bodies release endorphins, which a natural painkillers that also promote feelings of happiness and well-being.
But there is more to it than just the physical benefits. Laughter also has a spiritual dimension. When we laugh, we tap into the joy that comes from knowing God and experiencing His presence in our lives. As Apostle Paul writes, “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). Our joy and laughter are a reflection of the joy that comes from knowing Christ and walking in His ways.
So, if you are feeling anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed, take a moment to find something to laugh about—watch a funny movie, read a humorous book, or spend time with those close to you who make you smile. And always remember that true joy comes from the Lord, who loves us and wants us to experience His goodness every day.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for the gift of laughter and the healing power it brings. Help us to find joy amid life’s challenges and to experience the love and grace that come from knowing You. May our hearts be merry and full of Your love, so that we can share that joy with others and bring hope to the world around us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
