From a true story…After her mother died in 1996, Donna (Nika King) felt a calling to care for children without parents. After contacting an adoption agency, she learned about the plight of many other children. Along with her husband, Reverend Martin (Demetrius Grosse), and the Bennett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Possum Trot, Texas, she invited twenty-two families to adopt children from the local foster system, those that nobody wanted—the most difficult ones. 7. Faith of Angels

The film depicts the five-day search and rescue effort, highlighting the role of faith and community in the boy’s survival. John Skinner (John Michael Finley), driven by divine promptings and his knowledge of the mine, joins the rescue mission, showcasing the profound impact of faith and perseverance. His wife Leslie’s (Erika Christensen) newfound faith in Christ compels Lee to utilize his journalistic and legal training to try and disprove the claims of Christianity, pitting his resolute atheism against her growing faith. 9. Two Popes

Discontented with the current trajectory of the Church, Argentine Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio (Jonathan Pryce) has submitted several resignation letters to the Vatican, all of which have remained unanswered. Upon deciding to resign in person, the Cardinal is taken aback to discover that he has been invited to meet Pope Benedict XVI (Anthony Hopkins) for a private discussion at the Vatican. During their meeting, the reigning Pope consistently challenges Bergoglio’s more progressive views. Thus, the Cardinal is astonished to find out that not only has Benedict chosen to resign from the papacy, but he also regards Bergoglio as a fitting successor. Set against the backdrop of the 2012 Vatican leaks scandal, The Two Popes narrates the story of the relationship between the two pontiffs as they uncover shared ground despite their differing beliefs. 10. Penguin Bloom

During a family vacation in Thailand, Sam Bloom (Naomi Watts) accidentally falls off a high balcony and breaks her T6 thoracic vertebrae, resulting in partial paralysis. Back home in Australia, Sam, an avid surfer, struggles to adjust to life in a wheelchair, but is supported by her husband Cameron (Andrew Lincoln), their three sons Noah, Rueben, and Oli, and Sam’s overbearing mother Jan (Jacki Weaver). One afternoon, the three boys find and bring home an injured magpie chick whom they name Penguin. Sam is initially too despondent to care for Penguin, but understands it’s important to Noah, and as time goes on, she bonds with her. Based on a true story —the performances really bring this movie to the screen. Penguin Bloom was released in 2020 and is 1h 35m, and rated TV-14.
