The Greatest Inheritance

“Only my mom would make a game legally binding.”

Synopsis: Estranged siblings return home to bury their mother and claim their rightful inheritance. They quickly discover she hid the deed to the entire estate somewhere on the property, so they must work together to unravel clues.

After reading the synopsis, I thought this film would be similar to Scavenger Hunt or Rat Race, but…

Imagine going home to bury your mother, and you’d not been home for a long time. Only to get to the burial and no sooner than her ashes are interred, your youngest sibling says, “So are we going to read the will?” activating a special rule that reveals to them the deed to the entire estate is hidden somewhere on the property.

Many viewers will find a connection with one of the characters, I know I did. And there is an assortment in this sibling mix. Kasey Striker (Cameron Kelly), a musician who’s down on her luck and money pressed, Carry (Meredith Riley Stewart) who never left home taking care of both parents until the end, Rachel (Mena Suvari) a famous doctor who literally got her break from Kasey’s rise to stardom, and a brother, George (Jeff Schroeder) who’s always looking for an angle up in politics.

The moderator of this cookie jar of pranks is none other than Jaleel White, better known as Steve Urkel, who portrays Mr. Shephard. He seems to really enjoy poking fun at this motley crew as he referees this madness, leading them with the clues they need to find the hidden deed.

Will the DuBose siblings continue their squabbles, or will their mother’s plan to bring them together and redirect their focus on their true inheritance in Heaven be successful?

The storyline is rich with scripture, weaving in verses from Ecclesiastes as part of the ultimate scavenger hunt. This hunt guides the DuBose siblings on a journey that not only reconnects them with each other but also with Jesus, His gifts for us, and the understanding that the Kingdom of Heaven is our greatest inheritance, inviting us to join them on this journey.

The Greatest Inheritance was released in 2022 and is 1hr and 38 min. Can be seen for free on Hoopla, Tubi, Plex, and Roku. It can also be seen on Amazon Prime Video, Up Faith & Family, and Great American Pure Flix with a subscription.
