Sunday’s Devotion

I cried to the Lord with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah
(Psalm 3:4 NKJV)

PSALM 3 IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Thought For The Week: When the world feels too loud and troubles seem to mount, where do you turn? For David, facing rebellion and betrayal, the answer was simple and direct: he cried out to the Lord. In the midst of the chaos, he declared with confidence, “I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah” (Psalm 3:4, NKJV)

David didn’t just whisper or muse; he “cried to the Lord with his voice”. This suggests a fervent, heartfelt, and sometimes desperate plea. When we are overwhelmed, our prayers can become raw and vocal, a pure expression of our need for rescue. God not only understands the language of our hearts, but He also honors the intensity of our cries.

Despite being a fugitive surrounded by enemies, David knew God heard him. He wasn’t relying on wishful thinking but on past experience—God had always answered him. The phrase “from His holy hill” refers to God’s heavenly dwelling, symbolizing His sovereign presence and power. It’s a reminder that even when we feel far from God, His throne is unshakable, and He is always within earshot. This verse is a powerful reminder that prayer is not just a quiet thought but a potent, audible cry to a God who listens.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that we do not have to endure our struggles alone. Thank You for Your promise to hear us when we cry out to You. Help us to vocalize our concerns and to trust that You, from Your holy hill, are listening. Strengthen our faith, lift our heads, and grant us Your peace as we cast our anxieties upon You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

May the Lord bless and keep you…
