Only thirty days remain in this year, and soon 2026 will be upon us. People are already taking out their Christmas decorations. Everything from wreaths and wrapping paper on their front doors to candy cane lane displayed in their front yards.
The year’s last month comprises Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The only two holidays that everybody is thinking about. For the kids, it’s their favorite gadgets—I’m sure all of Santa’s elves, whether at the North Pole or right here, are working hard for that special day.
Can you believe that December boasts 223 special days dedicated to awareness and observances? It would be impossible to attend all those celebrations even if you wanted to. So, you’ll need to rummage through that ornament box and decide what you want to participate in. This entire month is recognized as the Month of Giving, National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month, Worldwide Food Service Safety Month, Spiritual Literacy Month, National Safe Toy and Gift Month, National Write a Business Plan Month, and Universal Human Rights Month. For the full list of celebrations, please choose a stocking stuffer.

For the disease fighters, this is the beginning of National Handwashing Awareness Week, and December 6 is National Influenza Vaccination Week. For us Disney babies, December 6 is also Walt Disney Day. As writers, we must honor National Letter Writing Day on December 7 and Dewey Decimal System Day on December 10. For the dessert connoisseurs, there is National Cookie Day on December 4, Sacher-Torte Day on December 5, and my all-time favorite, National Brownie Day on December 8—there are many more.

Regardless of whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, don’t forget National Pearl Harbor Day of Remembrance, U.S. National Guard Birthday on December 13, National Wreaths Across America Day on December 18, and Pledge of Allegiance Day on December 28. These “Days” represent a culmination of lives lost in the defense of our freedoms, which are the foundation of those liberties. Remember, freedom isn’t free.
A Little December Trivia: On December 1, 1990, Engineers digging a railway tunnel located under the English Channel broke through the last rock layer, allowing England to connect to mainland Europe for the first time since the Ice Age.
While dodging sneaky bots online or shoving through store crowds, remember Jesus sparks the season’s joy. Christmas can’t stand without Christ.
May the calm of winter settle gently around you, may the light of the season guide your steps,
and may each day bring warmth to your heart, peace to your mind, and hope to your spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Happy New Month and best wishes to you all…Blessings and Peace!
