The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words. (Jeremiah 18:1-2 NKJV)
JEREMIAH 18 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Week: In these verses, God gives Jeremiah a simple but profound instruction: “Arise and go”. Sometimes, God’s greatest revelations don’t happen in high, holy places, but in the ordinary scenes of life—like a potter’s workshop. Jeremiah had to physically move and observe before he could truly hear what God wanted to say.
The message God eventually reveals at the potter’s house is one of sovereignty and hope. As Jeremiah watches the potter work, he sees a vessel become “marred” in the craftsman’s hands. But instead of throwing the clay away, the potter “makes it again into another vessel,” shaping it as seems best to him. (Jeremiah 18:3-4 NKJV)
Today, consider that you are that clay. You are not a victim of “blind fate” or random circumstances; you are in the hands of a Master Artisan who has a specific design for your life.
Prayer: Lord, I thank You that I am in Your hands. I confess that I have often tried to be my own potter, choosing my own shape and path. Today, I yield to Your touch. Even in the places where I feel broken or marred, I trust You to remake me into a vessel of honor for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
