*Verse of the Day

Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. (Isaiah 42:9 NKJV)

ISAIAH 42 IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Thought for Today: The phrase, “the former things have come to pass,” is an invitation to look back on our lives and see God’s faithfulness. The very fact that His past promises were fulfilled serves as a guarantee for what is to come. He is a God who keeps His word.

More beautifully, He then declares, “new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” This speaks to God’s continuous work of renewal and transformation in our lives. The metaphor of new things “springing forth” like plants suggests a fresh, vibrant, and inevitable work that God is initiating, often before we can even perceive the first signs of it ourselves.

We can easily get stuck, dwelling on past failures, disappointments, or stagnant situations. As we cross the threshold into 2026, this verse calls us to shift our focus. God is not interested in simply mending the old; He is creating something entirely new. He is a God of new chapters, new mercies, and new opportunities for joy and breakthrough.

Prayer For Today: Heavenly Father, thank you for being the unchanging God who always brings renewal. Help me to let go of the past and not get stuck in the former things. I pray for the vision to see the new things You are declaring in my life, my family, and my community. Give me the faith to trust Your promises, knowing that what You declare will come to pass. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
