*Sunday’s Devotion

I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. (Psalm 18:3 KJV)

PSALM 18 IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Thought For The Day: Life often brings battles that feel overwhelming—anxiety, broken relationships, financial strain, or spiritual opposition. In these moments, our natural instinct might be to panic, complain, or try to fight in our own strength. David, the author of this Psalm, offers a different strategy: turn to God in praise.

Calling upon the Lord isn’t just about making a desperate request; it is acknowledging who He is. When we declare that God is “worthy to be praised,” we remind ourselves of His power, faithfulness, and past deliverances. Praise shifts our focus from the size of our problems to the greatness of our God.

The verse promises that this act of faith—calling and praising—is the very key to our rescue. Praise acts as a weapon that disarms the enemy. When you worship in the midst of the battle, you invite the Sovereign Lord into your situation. You are not fighting for victory; you are fighting from victory, trusting that He is your rock, fortress, and deliverer.

Whatever “enemy” you are facing today, don’t let the weight of it quiet your praise. Start by thanking God for who He is—your strength and salvation—before you even ask for help. Let your praise be the song that brings your deliverance.

Prayer: Lord, I call upon Your name today because You alone are worthy to be praised. I confess that I have tried to fight my own battles, but I surrender them to You now. You are my rock and my fortress. I trust that as I praise You, You are fighting for me and saving me from my enemies. I trust in Your deliverance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
