As the calendar countdown continues, there are just nine days left in this month and 162 days left in 2026 after today. You know, I talk to a lot of people every day because in my line of work, the consensus is that the older you get, the faster time flies. Some keep saying, “Before you know it, it’ll be Christmas.” And my reply to that is always the same…”Can we get past the other holidays first?”
Speaking of holidays…There are 14 celebrations today, which include Beta Glucan Day, Lion’s Share Day, National Hammock Day, National Penuche Fudge Day, National Rat Catchers Day, Sarawak Day, Spoonerism Day, Tisha B’Av, and World Brain Day.

Today, some are celebrating Casual Pi Day. Celebrated annually on July 22, it is a holiday dedicated to the mathematical constant π. Also known as Pi Approximation Day, the date references the fraction \(\frac{22}{7}\), which is a common and highly accurate approximation of π (approximately 3.142857). That’s a number that always stays with me.

With all of the calculating going on, we need to get out of those hammocks and come up with a cure for Fragile X syndrome, which is where National Fragile X Awareness Day originated and is held annually on July 22, acknowledging families impacted by Fragile X syndrome and highlighting global research advancements. It aims to raise awareness for Fragile X, the most common inherited cause of intellectual disabilities and autism, often by illuminating landmarks in teal blue. Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is a genetic condition caused by a mutation in the FMR1 gene on the X chromosome. This mutation prevents the gene from producing a protein crucial for normal brain development.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of each new day and the time You have given us. We pray for everyone affected by Fragile X syndrome—surround them with Your love, strengthen their families, and guide researchers toward discoveries and a cure. Help us use our time wisely to bring hope, compassion, and encouragement to those in need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
