With just 7 days left in this month, July is fleeing as quickly as it came in. While we celebrate National Cousins Day, let’s not forget the importance of family. Celebrated annually on July 24th. It is an unofficial holiday dedicated to recognizing the unique and lifelong relationships you share with your cousins, who are often some of your first childhood friends. Call, send a text, or even send a card to let them know you’re thinking about them.

Speaking of caring, Samaritans Awareness Day comes to mind. This day is observed annually on July 24 (24/7) to highlight that trained volunteers are available around the clock to provide confidential emotional support and suicide prevention.

For the adventurer explorers, today we celebrate Amelia Earhart Day. National Amelia Earhart Day is celebrated annually on this day to honor the legendary aviation pioneer’s birthday. Recognized for her record-breaking solo flights and advocacy for women in STEM, you can explore her historic legacy and view original artifacts at nearby exhibits like the Museum of Flying in Santa Monica.

Let us not forget Pioneer Day, also recognized today. Pioneer Day is an official legal holiday in Utah, also celebrated annually on this day, that commemorates the arrival of Brigham Young and the first group of Mormon pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley in 1847.

Heavenly Father, as July quickly draws to a close, we thank You for the gift of each new day and every opportunity to love and serve others. Today, we are reminded of the blessing of family, especially the cousins and loved ones who enrich our lives with cherished memories and lasting bonds. Lord, please fill our hearts with compassion for those who are hurting. We pray for those seeking hope and comfort, and we thank You for every caring person who offers a listening ear and encouragement to those in need. Help us to be good neighbors, reflecting the love of the Good Samaritan in our daily lives. We also thank You for the pioneers, explorers, innovators, caregivers, and all who use their gifts to make the world better. May their courage inspire us to walk faithfully in the path You have prepared for us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
