Perusing some new blog sites, I came upon the scripture The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little. (Proverbs 10:20 NKJV) This text caught my eye and my heart.
PROVERBS 10 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Week: Words have tremendous value. Proverbs compares the speech of the righteous to “choice silver”— something precious, refined, and beneficial. Just as silver has lasting worth, words spoken from a heart that seeks God can encourage the discouraged, bring wisdom to the confused, and offer hope to those who are hurting.
The second half of the verse reminds us that the condition of the heart determines the value of what comes from it. A heart that rejects God’s wisdom produces little of lasting worth, while a heart transformed by Him overflows with words that reflect His love, truth, and grace.
Our speech is more than conversation; it is a reflection of our character. When we spend time with the Lord, He shapes our hearts, and our words become instruments of healing rather than harm.
Prayer: Lord, refine my heart so that my words are like choice silver—valuable, gracious, and life-giving. Help me speak truth with love and use my tongue to encourage, comfort, and glorify You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
