Happy Monday from the sunny city of Land O’ Lakes, Florida! Right now, looking like rain, and the temperature is already 80 degrees and humid. While in Roanoke, Virginia, they are not just expecting 69 degrees with plenty of sunshine. But they will be celebrating National Roanoke Community Beautification Day today.

Since we’ve been taking this celebration trek, I am finding out a lot of information. This day is one of them. Established in 2020 by VASH Developers LLC, National Roanoke Community Beautification Day is an annual event held every July 27 to unite Southwest Virginia residents, volunteers, and local partners in cleaning parks, planting gardens, and upgrading local homes.

Now we only have seventeen more celebrations to go, which include: Bagpipe Appreciation Day, Barbie-in-a-Blender Day, Birthday of Dr. Jose Celso Barbosa, Cross Atlantic Communication Day, Gary Gygax Day, Iglesia ni Cristo Day, National Chicken Finger Day, National Creme Brûlée Day, and National Love is Kind Day. Since we’re talking about state celebrations today, there is also National New Jersey Day, which is celebrated annually to honor the Garden State as the third state to ratify the U.S. Constitution and join the Union. Home of diners, boardwalks, and more than a few Turnpike exits.

We cannot forget those who made it possible to have these state celebrations…National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day is observed every July 27 to mark the 1953 armistice that ended fighting in the Korean War, honoring the service and sacrifice of millions of military personnel.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this new day. As communities come together to beautify their neighborhoods and we remember those who served with courage and sacrifice, help us be faithful stewards of the places and people You have entrusted to us. May all we do today bring honor and glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
