As I was listening to this morning’s worship music, this thought crossed my mind: What about that script? In other words, what do you need to do to put the finishing touches on the movie script you’ve been laboring over for the last six months?

It was simply a quiet reminder that unfinished work has a way of lingering in the back of our minds. We can convince ourselves that we need more time, more inspiration, or just the right circumstances before we complete what we’ve started. Yet sometimes the only thing standing between a dream and reality is the willingness to finish.

I’ve learned that starting something is exciting because possibilities seem endless. Finishing, however, requires discipline. It means reading through the pages one more time, tightening dialogue, correcting mistakes, polishing scenes, and being willing to let go of perfection. A project doesn’t have to be flawless to fulfill its purpose. It just has to be finished.

Maybe that’s true in more areas of life than writing. There are conversations we’ve postponed, goals we’ve delayed, and callings we’ve placed on hold because we keep waiting for the perfect moment. But faith often grows through faithful action, one obedient step at a time.

This morning’s reminder wasn’t just about a screenplay. It was about stewardship. If God has entrusted us with an idea, a gift, or an opportunity, we honor Him by seeing it through. We don’t bury our talents beneath fear or endless revisions. We develop them, complete them, and place them in His hands.

So today I’ll return to that script with fresh eyes and renewed purpose. I’ll finish what I started, trusting that the outcome is in God’s hands. Perhaps this gentle nudge wasn’t just for me. Maybe it’s for anyone who has something meaningful waiting to be completed. Whatever that unfinished chapter looks like in your life, today might be the perfect day to write its ending.
