Happy New Week!

It’s a rainy day in Land O’Lakes, Florida, today. July just flew past us, and now the kids are preparing to go back to school today as we celebrate National Friendship Day. Would you believe it was started by Hallmark founder Joyce Hall in 1930 as a greeting card promotion?

National Friendship Day falls on the first Sunday of August (which landed on August 2 for 2026, though some calendars or past years associate it closely with August 3). It celebrates loving platonic bonds, human connection, and gratitude for chosen family.

This is just one celebration of 17 celebrations on this day, which include: Big Forehead Day, Commerce Day, Festival Monday, Kadooment Day, Kiribati Youth Day, Makira-Ulawa Province Day, National Grab Some Nuts Day, Pidjiguiti Day, and International Assistance Dog Week. For the complete list, go visit Rover’s doghouse.

Speaking of houses, some of us are probably finally getting to that cleanup we’ve been procrastinating about. So Clean Your Floors Day is something to observe as we clean our homes, along with Simplify Your Life Week. You’d be surprised how cleaning out your home offices, closets, and garages can really simplify your life. Talking about decluttering your environment and easing your mind—that’ll do it!

Heavenly Father, thank You for this gentle rainy day and for bringing us safely into a new month. As July gives way to August and children prepare to return to school, may their hearts be filled with courage, kindness, and a love of learning. In this season of celebrating friendship, help us to cherish the people You have placed in our lives, to be loyal friends, and to reflect the love of Christ in every conversation and act of compassion. May our homes be filled with peace, our communities with grace, and our hearts with gratitude for every blessing You provide. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
