Be An Angel

As we close in on the month’s end…Hoping to finally walk into some cool breezes…Let’s blow some goodness in everybody’s way. And one way to do that is by celebrating Be An Angel Day. This day is observed annually on August 22. Created in 1993 by Jayne Howard Feldman, this day encourages people to perform random acts of kindness, help those in need, and bring a little bit of goodness and compassion to the lives of others. Even if your halo is a little crooked, do the best you can.

While doing these acts of kindness, you may want to know that there are 12 other observances and celebrations you can join in today…Folklore Day, National Bao Day, National Pecan Torte Day, National Surgical Oncologist Day, National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day, National Tooth Fairy Day, and Never Bean Better Day. For the complete list, have a taste of our delicious pecan torte.

As we try to make someone’s life a little brighter, let’s not forget International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief — This day is a United Nations-designated day honoring survivors and victims of religious persecution, terrorism, and hate crimes. Let us never lose sight of those lives that have been lost and are still being lost to these three atrocities. Please keep their families in prayer.

Heavenly Father, as this month draws to a close, let Your love and kindness flow through us. Help us be a blessing to others, show compassion to those in need, and remember those who have suffered because of violence and persecution. Use us as Your hands and feet today. May even our smallest acts of kindness bring hope, comfort, and light. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
