Good morning. Today, on this 25th day of August, we began our day by celebrating Be Kind To Humankind Week. In light of the political climate in our country today, observed during the last week of August each year, Be Kind to Humankind Week is a way for people to celebrate kindness, generosity, service, and forgiveness toward our fellow human beings. It serves as a reminder that kind words and acts should be the norm, as supporting one another is a direct way to help people thrive.

There are twelve celebratory events today, which include the Birthday of Prophet Muhammad, Day of Songun, Kiss and Make Up Day, National Heroes’ Day, National Secondhand Wardrobe Day, and Uruguay Independence Day. For the complete list, click here.

For the consummate traveler and camper, today is National Park Service Founders Day, an annual observance celebrated on August 25th that honors the creation of the National Park Service. On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the Organic Act into law, officially establishing the National Park Service as a bureau under the Department of the Interior. The act tasked the new agency with protecting national parks and monuments so that people today and in the future can enjoy, learn from, and be inspired by them. Watch out for Yogi and Boo Boo.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this new day. Help us to choose kindness over anger, forgiveness over resentment, and love over division. Give us compassionate hearts to serve and encourage one another, remembering the words of Jesus: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Guide our nation and our communities toward peace, unity, and understanding.
