Terrific Thursday!

Thursday is one of my favorite weekdays. Why? This is my Friday! Whooo! Today is the 3rd of September. August just bowed out gracefully without much of a bang.

There are only 7 celebrations for today. These include Foundation Day in San Marino, International Cabernet Day, National Welsh Rarebit Day, Skyscraper Day, US Bowling League Day, and Yamashita Surrender Day.

And among those seven is Merchant Navy Day. Observed annually on September 3 to honor the bravery and sacrifice of merchant seafarers who keep global trade moving and support national security. The date marks the anniversary of the sinking of the SS Athenia in 1939, the first British merchant ship lost in World War II, which happened just hours after the war began. This day pays tribute to civilian mariners who risked their lives during both World Wars and subsequent conflicts to transport vital food, fuel, and supplies.

Thursday Prayer 🙏🏽

Heavenly Father, thank You for this Thursday, for bringing us safely into September, and for the blessings of a new day. We honor the brave merchant seafarers who sacrificed so much to serve others. Protect those who continue their work today, and keep us grateful, joyful, and mindful of Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏🏽
