On this beautiful Saturday, the 5th day of September 2026…First, I’d like to say good morning or good day (depending on what part of the world you live in), and thank God for this new day that we’ve never seen! And with thankfulness on my mind and heart, let’s be a blessing… Today is also International Day of Charity. Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
This was established to mark the anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa in 1997, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her lifelong work overcoming poverty and distress. The day highlights how philanthropy reduces poverty, bridges gaps in public services, and builds social solidarity across diverse cultures.
This is one day out of sixteen that are recognized today, which include … Franchise Appreciation Day, International Bacon Day, National Actdumb Day, National Be Late for Something Day, National Cheese Pizza Day, National Hummingbird Day, and World Samosa Day. For the complete list, have a slice of our famous Chicago pizza.

And while being a blessing is still on your mind, we must not forget that today also marks the start of National Child Protection Week. An annual campaign—primarily observed in Australia and led by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN)—that raises awareness about preventing child abuse and neglect. Protecting children is everyone’s business; communities, families, and governments share the responsibility to keep young people safe.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this new day and for blessings we have never seen before. Help us to give generously, love compassionately, and be a blessing to someone in need. Watch over and protect every child, and guide us to be faithful stewards of those You have entrusted to our care. May our words, actions, and kindness reflect Your love today and always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
