They shall not be ashamed in the evil time,
And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. (Psalm 37:19 NKJV)
PSALM 37 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Week:When the economy shifts, costs rise, or unexpected dry seasons hit our lives, fear is often the first thing to knock on the door of our hearts. It is easy to look at the world’s scarcity and wonder how we will make it through.
But this Psalm delivers a powerful, counter-cultural truth: Your supply is not tied to the world’s economy; it is anchored in God’s kingdom.
The psalmist David, does not promise that the hard times or “famines” won’t come. He does promise that when they do, God’s people will not be shamefaced or stranded. What the world calls a scarcity, God calls a bounty. He is the God of the five loaves and two fish, and also the God who cares for the daily necessities of your life. He is the God who takes care of you.
You do not have to be in “survival” mode or borrow peace from anxiety. Jehovah Jireh can make sure you have all the abundance you need (and more) even when things are scarce. Respond to fear with faith in God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that Psalm 37:19 promises that Your people will not be disgraced, even in tough times and that during times of famine, You ware the God of more than enough. Please help me find peace when the world is a place of great uncertainty and help me to place my absolute trust in Your provision, knowing that You will always provide for Your children. And please guard my heart from fear and worry, and let my life be a witness to Your faithfulness and provision. Amen.
