The Day You Found Me

“Whenever I look at you I see a man who never gives up.”

Synopsis: The passing of time does not diminish the childhood connection of two friends, a young boy and a girl, who were bound by a promise.

A twist on the story of Joseph only instead of a pit our main character was left in an abandoned house in the woods…

Imagine being the by-product of a psychologically abused marriage. A father, Charlie, (Gary Cairns) who is a poor working man—not only financially, but even poorer in spirit. A man who is having an extra-marital affair while your mother, who suffers with epilepsy; is desperately trying to make ends meet. At every opportunity she never fails to teach you God’s word. Yet, on the other hand you are constantly being discarded by your father. This is the lot of the story’s main character David. (Josiah David Warren)

David is always teased by his classmates because of his condition and appearance. His feet are coming out of his shoes—his clothes are tattered. But somehow compassion gives him a sincere friend, Elizabeth (Shae Landers), from a Christian home, who takes him there, feeds him, and introduces him to her family.

One day while David’s mother is looking for work, she has a seizure—no one is there to help her — she passes away.

David and Elizabeth become close friends and make a pact that no matter what happens to them in life, they will meet each other by the river where they hang out and sing their favorite song.

Sometime after his mother’s death, his father brings his mistress to the house who wants nothing to do with David. So Charlie takes him for a ride under the ruse they are going on a camping trip. Takes him to an abandoned house forcing him inside with only a sandwich, a picture of he and his mom and the guitar she gave him as a gift. David begs his father not to leave who tells him he’s coming back. Charlie returns one last time with food and water. Telling David he will be back he promises—He leaves again but never returns. Poor David prays for Jesus to bring his father back; but his father never returns.

His friends are missing him and noticed he’s been missing for three days. As David prays for Jesus to help him, he remembers what Elizabeth told him about Jesus. At the same time, Elizabeth is at the river praying for David.

Will David be rescued from that abandoned house? Will he ever see his father again? Will he be reunited with Elizabeth? You’ll just have to watch the movie to see.

We give The Day You Found Me

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

With over 1.7 million views on YouTube, this movie’s point is quite prevalent. The mercy and grace of God will find us wherever we are and forgiveness is something we all have to learn. The script had an air of predictability; could’ve connected the dots with the actors somewhat better. I feel like this was the director’s first time out the gate—we all have to start somewhere. However, if you just allow yourself to be captured by the love of Christ in this film; the transformations that happened because of His neverending love for us, and how we can overcome with that same love—you will find this movie well worth the watch. Don’t forget your box of Kleenex!
